SCHOOL PRESENTATION TOOLKIT

To assist you in preparing for the presentation, a comprehensive toolkit has been developed to aid administrators, teachers and staff in their efforts to educate students on the dangers of substance use, prepare for the presentation content as well as student response. This guide was written based on suggested best practices of schools and reflects a diversity of experiences, viewpoints and knowledge on substance use disorder and the disease of addiction. The toolkit also includes suggested resources for classroom follow-up and suggested policies for handling student disclosure.

HERREN PROJECT

Herren Project is a non-profit foundation established by, Chris Herren, that assists individuals and families struggling with addiction. Herren Project works to break the stigma of addiction, bring awareness to the dangers of substance abuse and encourage positive decision making to navigate life’s challenges. Focused on the prevention of substance use disorder, Herren Project provides student support through licensed clinicians and web-based resources for students struggling with substance use and other mental health issues in addition to school based initiatives empowering our youth to step up and initiate change in their schools and communities.
