SCHOOL PRESENTATION TOOLKIT
To assist you in preparing for the presentation, a comprehensive toolkit has been developed to aid administrators, teachers and staff in their efforts to educate students on the dangers of substance use, prepare for the presentation content as well as student response. This guide was written based on suggested best practices of schools and reflects a diversity of experiences, viewpoints and knowledge on substance use disorder and the disease of addiction. The toolkit also includes suggested resources for classroom follow-up and suggested policies for handling student disclosure.
Herren Project is a non-profit organization, founded by Chris Herren in 2011, focused on treatment, recovery and prevention of substance use disorder. Herren Project offers a variety of services free of charge. These include assistance with treatment placement, long-term recovery support for individuals and families, financial support for treatment programs and recovery housing as well as a prevention education program for schools and communities.
Herren Project Clubs create a peer network in schools to empower youth to make healthy choices. They encourage overall wellness, development of coping skills and leadership in schools and communities with the goal of preventing the disease of addiction.
